I did work for the Des Moines County Historical Society located in Burlington, Iowa which included designing their new logo. Through a process of revision and editing, I ended up with a logo that my client was very pleased with and was used as the organization's visual identity. In the logo, the client was wanting to represent everything that makes up the history of Des Moines County. I was able to do this by creating simple but effective illustrations representing The Mississippi River, steamboats, chapels, the railroad, native american history, and agriculture. I put these illustrations into a shape that is an outline of Des Moines County. This image is paired with two fonts, one that grabs the viewers' attention and is a less formal font and another which is a formal looking italicized serif font. In addition I did their entire newsletter, which they wanted to be black and white except for the cover, and other marketing materials such as posters. Use the arrows to scroll through these designs.
